In 2001, these two knew each other with a misunderstanding just like that.

They gotten along pretty well, and Junsu and Hyukjae often looked for Sungmin to play together:

Later, the company decided to place them together in a group known as Deneb.

Training together, preparing for debut

Unfortunately, this group didn’t last long before the group was tarnished, whereby Junsu was placed DBSK. Of course, the two who didn’t make it was dealt with a huge blow.

Hyukjae: During that time, I was really upset, I cried for a month.

Sungmin: After the group disbanded, my mood was really down. I went back to school, skipping a year of practice.

Dreams aren’t easily defeated, thus the two who went through the same pain relied and depended on each other, encouraging one another. Just like that, they became very close knitted and were always together.

Hyukjae: “Before debuting, you (Sungmin) was always glued together with the jewel guy.”

 

As they’ve went through the same path, having similar experiences, the two always spent time together. To the point where they’d part at the last  stop through bus rides.

The lengths Eunhyuk took for Sungmin: 

“The distance between Eunhyuk’s house and the company was quite close, but Sungmin’s house was far. After practice, Eunhyuk would send Sungmin home, before returning to his. In the morning, Eunhyuk would first meet up with Sungmin, then leave for the company together.

 A Korean fan once wrote a note regarding their travelling route. Eunhyuk would take a bus from home (road A) to X train station. He’ll take the train to B station and change to a bus at road C, travelling to D (the place where Sungmin and him would split up when going home, or meet up in the morning). Eunhyuk would wait for Sungmin until he turned up, then take a bus at road E together and travel to the company. This takes about 40 minutes.

 

Unless Sungmin doesn’t head to the company as well, Eunhyuk would then travel to the company straight from home and it’ll only take him 10 minutes.

Eunhyuk would save a seat for Sungmin whenever they took the bus together. He’ll do this to the point where he’ll habitually tell a passenger who sat on Sungmin’s seat that “I’m sorry, but there’s someone already sitting here.”

According to a Korean fan, when Eunhyuk and Sungmin were still trainees, they didn’t have fans chasing after them and thus, there would be cases where fans occasionally sat on the same bus with them. There was once where Eunhyuk boarded the bus first, while Sungmin followed behind a fan. After the fan had boarded, she had wanted to take the seat beside Eunhyuk, but Eunhyuk grabbed onto the seat that was next to him, saying that the seat was taken. Therefore, after Sungmin had boarded, he easily took a seat beside Eunhyuk. However, there were times when Sungmin sat next to the ‘assigned’ seat and Eunhyuk would tell Sungmin to go over to sit beside him. Later, fans then got to know that the seat could not be seated. In that bus, there were even strawberries and stars drawn by them.

 

After a day of exhausting daily practices, Sungmin would often lean onto Eunhyuk’s shoulder and fall asleep. Eunhyuk would be on a look out for Sungmin’s station, then wakes Sungmin up when they’ve reached his stop.”

Hyukjae: “Vegetables can be delicious too.”

After Pop team won because of Sungmin, Hyukjae placed the first meat on Sungmin’s plate.
